Data Methodology
How Footy Contacts sources, checks, and maintains the football industry contact directory — and what our terminology means.
Where our data comes from
Footy Contacts is a professional directory of people working in the football industry. We collect contact and role information from publicly available sources — club and organisation websites, league directories, publicly listed staff pages, sports publications, and licensed data providers.
We do not scrape private social media accounts, purchase personal data from brokers, or collect sensitive personal information. Every record in the directory corresponds to a professional role at a football club, agency, federation, or related organisation.
How data is checked
Before a contact appears in the public directory, it passes through several automated checks:
Duplicate detection removes repeated records for the same person at the same organisation. Scraper and bot-detection filters block synthetic or honeypot entries. Role classification maps job titles to standard football industry categories — for example, distinguishing a licensed player agent from a travel agent or customer service agent.
Where an email address is listed, we run deliverability checks. Contacts that pass email verification are marked with a green tick in the app. This indicates the email address has been checked — not that the person's identity or role has been independently audited.
Records flagged as inaccurate, bounced, or requested for removal are suppressed from the directory.
How often data is updated
We refresh the database frequently. Automated systems monitor data freshness and flag records that may be stale — for example, when a contact's organisation changes or a role title no longer matches public sources.
Aggregated directory statistics (contact counts by country, role, and league) are recalculated daily. Individual records are updated as new source data becomes available or when corrections are submitted.
Each directory page shows a data-updated date where AI-generated introductory content is present, reflecting when that page's data snapshot was last refreshed.
Requesting removal or correction
Any individual listed in Footy Contacts can request correction or removal of their record at any time. We process requests promptly in line with UK GDPR obligations.
The fastest route is to email privacy@footycontacts.com from the work email address listed in our database. We automatically match the sender, suppress the record within 24 hours, and add the address to a permanent suppression list so it cannot be re-imported.
If you no longer have access to that email address, you can request manual verification via our data removal page.
Data removal requests →What "verified" means on Footy Contacts
We use the word "verified" in two distinct ways, and we want to be clear about both:
Published — A contact is published when it has passed our directory eligibility checks (not a duplicate, not suppressed, not a honeypot, and correctly classified for its role category). Published contacts appear in search results and on directory pages. This is what our page counts refer to.
Email-verified (green tick) — A contact shows a green tick when their email address has passed a deliverability check (e.g. confirmed deliverable, not a known bounce). This does not mean we have independently confirmed the person's identity, employment status, or licensing credentials.
We do not claim that every published contact has a verified email address. Marketing copy on directory pages uses "published" to describe counts; the green tick is reserved for the email-verification status shown in the app.
